Blackberry has made the BBM app available for the two leading platforms in the market, Android and iOS. So if you’re a Windows Phone user, you must be wondering when the Canadian phone maker will make the app available for Microsoft’s mobile operating system. Sadly, Blackberry says that it still doesn’t make sense for them to make the app available for Windows Phone.
Speaking to TrustedReviews, David Proulx, Senior Director of BBM Business Development at Blackberry said, “It [the continuing lack of a BBM Windows Phone app] is entirely market driven. Our initial launch on iOS and Android was a function of the prevalence of those platforms.”
So does this means that Blackberry doesn’t plan to launch BBM for Windows Phone? Well, for now, there are no plans, but this doesn’t rule out the future. Proulx said, “As other platforms emerge, whichever they may be, we will execute on those platforms as well.”
You may be wondering why Blackberry decided not to make a BBM app for Windows Phone. Proulx said, “It is not a statement of intent, and it’s not a strategic or religious thing, it’s just a function of when does it make sense and when is it something that consumers demand in sufficient numbers to make it worth our while and worth their while.”
